A great quick and easy recipe to have with your Christmas dinner is creamy savoy cabbage with bacon bits. This is a cheap dish to make and is ready in an overall time of 25 minutes, plus each serving costs just £2.10.

Ingredients – 1kg savoy cabbage, 2 rashers of bacon (diced), 40g of butter, 50ml of cream, salt and pepper and nutmeg.

First of all, remove the outer leaves from the cabbage and wash it. Next boil the bacon for a couple of minutes this gives it a milder flavour and a soft texture. Cut the cabbage into strips and par-boil in salt water. Drain the cabbage and add it to cold water to keep the colour in it. Add the cabbage, bacon, butter and cream to the pan, season to taste with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
