Parklife Festival is an annual festival held in Manchester in the grounds of Heaton Park. Heaton Park is one of the largest municipal parks in Europe covering an area of up to 600 acres. Heaton Park has been open as a park since 1902. At Heaton Park there are great facilities such as an 18-hole golf course, a boating lake, an adventure playground and a tramway museum. The Park has a long and rich history of hosting festivals and concerts.

In Early 1900’s numerous gramophone open air concerts took place whereas in more recent times, Heaton Park was visited by Pope John Paul the second in 1982 and celebrated by over 100,000 people attending. At the peak of ‘Madchester’, Heaton Park hosted ‘Cities in the Park’ which featured the great and the good of the day including Happy Mondays, De La Soul and 808 State. In more recent times Heaton Park has hosted now legendary concerts by The Stone Roses and Oasis.

Parklife is spread across two days and attracts more and more people each year. It is typically a festival for the younger generation however there are plenty of older people there too. Parklife festivals line up blew people away last year as there was so much variety to choose from, it featured people like Carl Cox who is a legend of his category tech house. Along with others from the same genre like Fat Boy Slim, JackMaster, Skream, Solardo, Artwork and many more.

Other genres include Grime music where people like Stormzy, Giggs, Wiley, Aj Tracey, not to forget Boy Better Know which saw a crowd of over 15,000 people last year. Parklife also accommodates smaller music genres like Drum & Bass where the likes of Andy C, Noisia, Wilkinson, Hype & Hazzard, Congo Natty and many more again.

There were plenty of other music genres played across the two days however too many to name. One of the best parts about Parklife is defiantly the stages as they are very eye grabbing. elrow presents one of the stages and is known worldwide. elrow was first seen in Viladecans, an area just outside of Barcelona, elrow is the epitome of a Spanish fiesta and has perfected its parties through a philosophy that captures the ears, eyes and imaginations of clubbers all over the globe. Other stages include Hanger Which is built to look exactly like an old Aircraft Hanger and is adds perfect scenary to the festival. And finally many peoples favourite stage Temple this quirky stage is just what festival goers want to see, great acts performing on a huge stage that looks incredible. Temple stage looks like it is made from shipment containers which have been stacked on top of each other to create the perfect stage.
